The leaves are starting to change and the night temperatures are cooling off. It is that time of year to gather around an open fire, roasting marshmallows and making smores.

Fire Place vs. Fire Pit
The question comes to mind, should I build a fireplace or a fire pit for my back yard oasis. Both are great additions but you have to decide which will work best for you.

The Fireplace is great for aesthetic value and some functionality. A Fire Pit can be more functional and can be enjoyed by many more. Having had both, I can say that the Fire Pit is used 95% of the time, as it becomes more of a gathering area for the whole family. The cost of a Fire Pit can be a 1/8th to a 1/16th of the cost of a Fire Place. This savings could allow you to expand your patio when planning out your area.
